Open Thread 9/12/18 Well... that sucked. The Yankees were absolutely embarrassed by the Twins last night, losing by a score of 10-5. Among the few bright spots for the Yankees was McCutchen, who continued to display his on-base skills with 2 more walks and a hard hit single up the middle, Didi, who had 2 hits including a grand slam, and Andujar, who had 2 hits including his 40th double of the year. Andujar is only 4 doubles away from tying the Yankee record for most doubles by a rookie in franchise history, currently held by Joe DiMaggio at (44). Here's the box score: With the loss, the Yankees watched their lead for the first wild-card dwindle down to just 2 as the red-hot Oakland A's continue to close the gap at an alarming pace. Tonight, the Yankees will wrap up the rubber-game of this series behind the struggling Luis Severino who will face Jake Odorizzi. The game thread will be up 30 minutes prior to tonight's game.
